Description of the Business Park

The Plein'Est Economic Activity Park has been awarded the regional distinction of “Top Quality" Business Park by the Champagne-Ardenne Region and the State. It is supported by all the local public partner organizations.

The Business Park will eventually cover a total area of about 150 ha. A first, 44-ha stage is developed in 2006-2007 to accomodate your industrial and service-sector projects. Designed to emphasize the attractions of the local landscape, the Business Park offers a working and living environment of superior quality.

Firms wishing to set up here will be able to take advantage of both :

  • An immediate installation following the 2008 completion by the Chaumont Commune Community of a company accommodation infrastructure of some 3,100 m², including 2,000 m² for workshops and 400 m² of office
    space;
  • The local expertise and knowledge of high technologies: the Nogent CRITT (Regional Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer) is only 20 km from Chaumont.

Mission of the Model Business Park

The aim of this sophisticated business park is to encourage industrial and service sector activities of national and international scope, preferably focused on the bio-medical, wood-processing & development, printing & publishing, food-processing, and business services sectors.

The Economic Setting of the Chaumont Region

In the south of the Champagne Ardenne, the Chaumont Commune Community, comprising 19 communes (population 35,420, with 28,365 in Chaumont itself), is located astride a North-South economic and tourist artery that is not just national but European in scope. Our area, the source of several of France's major rivers, is fortunate in its forested natural surroundings. The men and women who live here include expert crafts persons and factory workers who are quickly mastering the skills of high technology.

The local economic fabric is highly diversified, mainly in the service, business, and administrative sectors.

The most prominent fields include biomedical equipment (prostheses and surgical instruments), with world leaders such as Depuy, Aesculap, and Landanger; the graphics field (Chaumont is a center for the graphic arts), which offers exceptional advantages: a graphic arts festival, professional training, and national publishers such as Crépin Leblond, Castor & Pollux, Le Journal de la Haute-Marne, Les Imprimeries de Champagne; the timber business, strongly represented in the Haute-Marne, where a vocational high school specializes in woodworking; the food-processing sector (dehydration and animal feed companies); plastics processing; and general engineering.

The Development Zone Advantage

The Chaumont Basin is located in a ZRR (Zone de Revitalisation Rurale, or rural revitalization zone): this special zoning enables certain projects to obtain financing from the European Fund and/or the PAT (Prime à l’Aménagement du Territoire, or land-use planning subsidy) and to receive tax exemptions.
The Economic Division of the Chaumont Commune Community is your personal representative when seeking partners (at the European, National, Regional, or Département level, etc.) to provide government assistance. It will also help you to set up and develop your operations in our business park and other inter-commune areas.
