	Pascal Colrat signe l'affiche 2006 L'affiche du Festival / The poster of the Festival Pascal Colrat sortait à peine des Beaux-Arts quand il se rendit, pour la première fois, au Festival international de l’affiche de Chaumont. La conférence de presse se déroulait alors dans une salle de l’hôtel Terminus. Chaumont étant un haut lieu de la chasse, les murs de cette pièce sont recouverts de trophées. Impressionné par ce décor, Pascal Colrat en garda une mémoire visuelle forte. Ainsi, des années plus tard, quand on lui propose de réaliser l’affiche du festival 2006, le souvenir du lieu s’impose à lui comme une évidence. Le parallèle, la similitude existant entre la remise du 1er prix au Festival de Chaumont qui est avant tout un concours et l’animal brandi en guise de trophée par le chasseur, d’autre part, la position à la verticale et sur un mur qu’adoptent trophées animaliers et affiches amènent Pascal Colrat a réalisé une affiche-trophée. Annonciateur de la lumière, et portant haut le brame lorsque le printemps arrive, le cerf est l’animal royal de la forêt. Sur l’installation que Pascal Colrat a réalisée, petit à petit, son cerf s’est orné… anneaux de ses anciennes maîtresses, maquillage de fête… Du fond de cette nuit magique, il sort d’une forêt dont il connaît les moindres mystères. Il est sacré roi-trophée et annonce le festival où il sera amené et où sera présenté, à travers un making-off photographique, le processus d’élaboration et de fabrication de sa transformation. Pascal Colrat had just graduated from Fine Arts, when he attended the Chaumont International Poster Festival for the first time. At the time, the press conference took place in a room of the Hotel Terminus. Chaumont being also a Mecca for hunting, the walls of this room were covered with hunting trophies. Impressed with this decor, Pascal Colrat kept a vivid memory of this vision. Hence, when years later, he was asked to design the poster for the 2006 Festival, the memory of this place was brought right back to him. The parallel, the existing similarity between the awarding of the first prize of the Chaumont Festival, which is above all a competition, and the animal brandished like a trophy by the hunter on the other hand, the vertical position on a wall taken up by animal trophies as well as posters led Pascal Colrat to design a trophy-poster. Announcing the light, and carrying high the antlers when spring arrives, the stag is the royal animal of the forest. On the installation Pascal Colrat realised, his stag is slowly but surely embellishing (rings of his former mistresses, fancy make-up). In the midst of this magic night, he leaves the forest, of which he knows the deepest mysteries. He is crowned trophy-king and announces the Festival, where he will be taken and where he will be presented, through the photographic presentation of the elaboration process and making of his transformation. Bérengère Desmettre Pascal Colrat Né en 1967 à Paris, Pascal Colrat, diplômé de l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Paris, choisit très tôt comme support d’expression l’affiche ou l’image dans sa démultiplicité utilise des réseaux de diffusions variées et croise un public très large et populaire. Pascal travaille ainsi pour différentes institutions culturelles et politiques – Amnesty International, Act Up, Le Tarmac de la villette, l’Opéra de Lille, la Scène Nationale de Rouen, le Grand Théâtre de Lorient etc. Par ailleurs, il exposera au Centre Georges Pompidou, en mai 2002, une importante série de diptyques, « Signes de la Biélorussie », résultats de son travail sur ce pays, ayant pour propos la dénonciation du drame de l’après Tchernobyl dans un climat post communiste fort. À l’opposé, son voyage à Los Angeles, grâce au prix de la Villa Médicis Hors les Murs, lui permettra de réaliser une confrontation, toujours en diptyque, entre starisation extrême et violence dans les gangs. Son intérêt pour les signes et images étrangers l’amènera, en mars 2003, en résidence en Inde. Ses images imprimées sur des sacs en toile indien défileront dans vingt villes en Inde sous le vocable « Bag from India ». Dans le cadre de la manifestation Hors Limite en Seine-Saint-Denis, il part aux Caraïbes en 2005 et choisit le support de la carte postale, qu’il a déjà expérimenté, pour réaliser une série d’images sur l’enfermement et l’esclavagisme : « Matoutou Falaise ». Exposé régulièrement depuis 1998 à la Galerie Mouvements Modernes, il présente, sous son égide, à la Fiac en 2004, un miroir pictogramme « You and Me ». Born in Paris in 1967, Pascal Colrat, graduate of the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts de Paris, chose the poster as medium of expression very early, as the image in its demultiplication uses different diffusion networks and meets a very wide and popular audience. Pascal thus works for various cultural and political organizations such as Amnesty International, Act Up, Le Tarmac de la Villette, L’Opéra de Lille, la Scène Nationale de Rouen, le Grand Théâtre de Lorient, etc. He also exhibited a great series of diptyches « Signs of Byelorussia » at the Centre Georges Pompidou in May 2002, outcome of his work on this country, aiming at the exposure of the post-Chernobyl tragedy in a strong post-communist climate. As a contrast, his trip to Los Angeles, which he undertook thanks to the Villa Medicis Hors les Murs Award, allowed him to create a confrontation – also as a diptych– between the star system taken to the extreme and violence within the gangs. His liking for foreign signs and images will lead him to reside in India in March 2003. His images printed on linen bags will pass through twenty towns of India under the title « Bag from India ». For the event Hors Limite in Seine Saint Denis (suburb of Paris) he left for the Caribbean in 2005 and chose as his medium the post card, which he had already tried out, to create a series of images on confinement and slavery : « Matoutou Falaise ». He has had regular exhibitions at the Gallery Mouvements Modernes, and presented under their aegis a pictogram-mirror « You and Me » at the FIAC in 2004.
